More than ever, War of the Chosen encourages XCOM 2 players to manage a larger roster of troops, rather than a single squad. Just 1 or 2 +1 rank RR missions and you can field new soldiers with powerful bonus skills. Which is why the resistance order 'live fire training' (I think thats the one) is very good. Horde missions are rather easy as soon as you left early game and got a full squad.ĭont just level up random soldiers. in the zone/serial + guardian + run & gun + killzone for a grenadier (just to give an example), then I send that soldier on RR missions that grant a level up or let him join not that hard missions. If a soldier rolled powerful skills, e.g. Then you always check what skills the rookies you buy or the squaddies etc you come accross rolled.

I think the mod is called 'show me the skills'. I use that mod that lets you see all the bonus skills a soldier rolled before they reach the rank that would reveal the skill. If you believe you do have more or less enough soldiers You can still level promising soldiers via +1 rank resistance ops. 2 to rotate and a third for unforseen problems and to compensate for injuries or casaulties. I always try to go for at least 3 full squads. What if one entire squad lands in a shitstorm and is badly injured and out for a long time? Your other squad can do 2 missions and then they're tired. If your current roster is deep enough to build 2 squads then that's viabale but won't allow for any mistakes. I do play with a bigger squad though of 8 though. I go for 10 grenadiers and about 4 - 6 of the other classes.
